26 - A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $40 - Buy it here.

This scene was taken at the Atlantic City Beach. I found it challenging to paint with really strong contrasts between the sand and the shadows. It made it out alright! The skies were fun to paint as I just dabble here and there like a kid who likes to draw on the wall with a Sharpie. :)

25 - Morning Chickens

Morning Chickens 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $40 - Buy it here.

Everyone thinks I've been raised on a farm just because I told them we have a chicken coop with about 8 hens and a rooster. I'm no farmer but having chickens is great because I can collect a dozen eggs every day!

I enjoy the lighting effect with the strong dark background contrast. It really brings the yellow hen in major focus before you notice the brown hen. It was challenging painting the whites as it gets easily muddy with the dark background but I'm stubborn and like to finish the painting from beginning to end in two hours. I don't want to wait for the paint to dry and try again the next day. That's just me.

24 - Mystical Forest

Mystical Forest 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $40 - Buy it here.

I love this painting! I was really pleased with the way it came out! Originally it didn't have that glow on the far right...I thought I'd add some mysticism by adding a glowing fairy in there. Love it!

23 - Dahli & Nelson

Dahli & Nelson 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $40 - Buy it here.

These little puppies are the youngest of the seven Pekingese my family owns. I love them and Dahli is my favorite as she is a feisty playful ball of fur. If you haven't noticed...my family likes to name them after historical or somewhat famous names. The oldest half brothers, Napoleon Bonaparte and Alexander the Great (Naps and Alex), Napoleon is mostly brown with multicolors shades of brown and cream. Alex is similar but has a memorable blackish face. The third is named Henry as in Henry VIII of England the English king and he is cream colored and the biggest and fluffiest of all. The fourth is a girl! Her fur is completely black and her name I proudly call her is Cleopatra as in the Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. The next one became mommy's baby girl, Lizzy, who was named after Queen Elizabeth of England. She follows my mom around and goes everywhere from hair salons to the office. She is a sweet girl. Then lastly the last two baby puppies who are half brother and sisters, Nelson and Dahli. Nelson is from Nelson Mandala and Dahli which I spelled wrong but prefer to pronounce it like Dolly is meant to honor the name from the Dalai Lama. Nelson is funny since he is completely white and poofy!

Jeez look at me go about the puppy dogs! This painting was another experiment of the blocky technique and I really like it!

22 - Napoleon

Napoleon 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord SOLD

He is one of the seven Pekingese dogs my family raised and he has a half brother named Alex (short for Alexander the Great). They are the oldest of the rest. He has recently passed after 8 long years. He was loved and greatly missed. I'm proud of this painting for the neat blocky style that I've found to be really fun and interesting.

21 - Tree

Tree 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $35 - Buy it here.

Let me tell you something....I'm not happy with this one. I was experimenting on the dabbing of different colors and see what I came up with. I realized till the end that the colors didn't have enough contrast...Don't forget! Wet oil paint appears lighter and brighter than when dry.

20 - Cabin in the Woods

Cabin in the Woods 6 x 6 Oil on Gessobord $35 - Buy it here.

I was staying over a friends family farm for a wedding who had a cabin in the woods for me and my friends to stay. It was super rustic and built by a grandfather hunter. I changed the cabin colors to a blueish hue instead of the boring beige wood color. Honestly this is not the best perspective painting I've ever done but it's good practice! Practice practice practice is the key to becoming a successful painter.
